What is Your Why
This week we are finishing up the last minute extensions that we had pending due to lack of information or communication. It is common to be at this place each year. And it is draining on accountants. My nerves are a bit frayed and I am worn down.
I am reminded of a conversation I had with my friend Seth Jenson. Seth is a professor of entrepreneurship and talks about starting businesses all the time. There would be times according to Seth where you are trying to remember why you started a business, he suggested to write it down and display it so you can easily recall.
For me it is family time, flexibility, control over my life, and always having engaging work. It has been a 100% worth every moment and I am reminded of that as I struggle through the last few days of a difficult time in my business.
Write down your why and make sure you remember.
TODAY’S ACCOUNTING TIP
Estimated Tax Payments
Make them, if you don’t know how much to pay, at a minimum I usually am suggesting taking 100% of last years tax due if you made less than $150k. If you made more than 150k pay 110% of last years tax. There is nuance there, but that should suffice for the majority of people.
